2008 Detroit Gospel Showcase & Concert

Benefiting Organizations

A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to help the following organizations:

  • The Foundation for Academic and Entrepreneurial Excellence. The goal of this organization is to raise scholarship money for African American and Hispanic students to attend college, obtain a degree in a business related field, and assist their communities with economic development by starting businesses within their communities and hiring people in their communities.

  • Horizons - Upward Bound At Cranbrook - The mission of Horizons-Upward Bound is to prepare students with limited opportunity from the Detroit metropolitan area to enter and succeed in post-secondary education.

HUB students participate in a 12-month program at Cranbrook Schools, which is divided into two phases: a six-week summer residential phase and a 24-Saturday winter phase during the school year. During the summer, the students are enrolled in an intensive college-preparatory curriculum along with enrichment activities and athletics. The winter phase focuses on academic skills, tutoring, and college and career guidance. Through four years of high school, the students have access to more than 2,500 hours of structured academic learning experiences

  • Churches can share in the proceeds of this event in two ways:
    • By participating in the sell and distribution of group tickets to the Detroit Gospel Showcase & Awards
    • By participating in selling ads for the Detroit Gospel Showcase souvenir program book
    • Participation in both of these revenue-generating programs is optional
